Story Telling Week and The Sreepur Village Library

To mark the end of Story Telling Week we are delighted to share with you some pictures of our new library which is currently being updated.

Led by Matthew, our child development specialist, the school teachers have been busy working on modernising the school library. Last year, we restructured our school and teaching system so that we could improve each-and-every child’s learning experience, and to keep in line with these plans, the library is now being reorganized, painted and most importantly filled with a selection of new books.

A considerable number of our supporters have kindly donated books over the course of the year so now we have many books that, today, our teachers are busily placing on bookshelves.

On 6th February, we will open the newly furnished library for all the mothers and children of The Sreepur Village. The children are waiting enthusiastically for this day so that they can have access to the new library and its new books.

Our teachers regularly encourage the children to go to the library, as they feel it will help them to increase their reading habits. The library is key for exposing children to all kinds of reading and literature material and we believe a well-resourced library not only brings joy and a love of reading, but it also helps to develop confidence which our children, on arrival, really do not have.

Do please contact us if you would like to donate to our library or alternatively visit: http://bit.ly/2j9VK41 to buy one of our bookmarks, made entirely by hand by the women of The Sreepur Village.
