Spring Has Finally Sprung...

In spring, O mother mine,
The fragrance from your mango groves
Makes me wild with joy,
Ah, what a thrill!

Every day, at morning assembly, our school children sing these four lines from the national anthem.

Spring has officially sprung and in Bangladesh it comprises of the Bangla months of Falgoon and Chaitra when trees come into bloom and the wind blows a floral fragrance into the air.

In The Sreepur Village it is notably the mango trees that have started to bud and, as the national anthem says, their fragrance and colour fill the village with utmost joy.
