#NationalSmileMonth
Think about something that particularly makes you smile. What was it that made you happy? Was it because you had your loved ones near? Or you were surrounded by a beautiful landscape or some good people? Or that you have lots of money?
Then in the case of the Sreepur Village, the cause of our mothers' smiles and happiness is really exceptional. They are coming through the worst experiences known to society, but now in The Sreepur Village they are in a safe place with basic food, clothing, medical and educational facilities. Our ultimate goal is to prepare them for their future livelihoods. At the Village, they have to practice hard for preparing themselves for the future struggle of their livelihoods, so it is really challenging to express their happiness in words. However, let’s hear what makes some of our mothers and children smile.
Nita, one of the mothers of The Sreepur Village says, “A merry environment. Everyone is in a cheerful mood and they have a particular job and they do it systematically. When I think that I’m also a part of it, that makes me happy.”
Maloti, one of the mothers of the adult literacy class says, “I’m here to build my future. I came from a nasty place, where my children were not supposed to be studying, but now I am also studying. Is that not a fact for happiness? The Sreepur Village trained me in tailoring, bamboo weaving and small business. Besides these, I’m also learning literacy skills. Really, it makes me happy.”
Rita, our third-grade student says, “I like to watch films on Fridays. When we all sit together to watch a film that makes me happy. Especially with all my friends.”
Hridoy, our grade-one student says, “The snacks make me happy. I love the delicious snacks, because I love to eat.”
These are just some of the reasons why the Sreepur Village mothers and children smile, we have plenty more which we will share with you throughout #NationalSmileMonth.
Did you know that every year in The Sreepur Village a mother and a child will both require four toothbrushes and 12 toothpastes each. So, for as little as £10 you could donate here and help us brighten the smiles of over 200 women and 500 children.
