National Conversation Week 2019
National Conversation Week is simply about making time to talk to each other. With social media dominating our lives, the art of human conversation is being swapped with emoji’s, and texts. Whether it’s keeping in touch with friends or updating a colleague at work, most of us would prefer to choose texting and emailing over actually talking to somebody.
In The Sreepur Village, we emphasise the benefits of talking to each other and we always encourage our mothers and children to say how they feel, share their concerns or simply share their day with another by means of talking.
To mark the start of National Conversation Week, we asked one of our mothers, Halima, what topic of conversation would she like to share with the world, she said she would like to talk about women’s empowerment and why so many women are still in darkness. When Halima leaves The Sreepur Village, she told us that she would like to set up a training centre for impoverished women, showing them the light and empowering them through conversation.
